Beach: You can walk to the beach in 5-10 minutes: The house opposite has a large trampoline in the front yard. Next to it runs a path. Follow the path (it cuts across a few roads). When you reach the end of the path, turn left onto the coastal road – and shortly after turn right onto a new path that goes directly down to the beach.
Restaurants: "Mamas & Tapas" on the square in Liseleje is quite nice. Restaurant "Knud" at the harbor in Hundested is also recommended.
Groceries: The grocer on the square is open every day and is highly recommended. There is also a good bakery in town, which is open every day. In Asserbo, there is a smaller supermarket "365discount," which is open later in the evening than the grocer in Liseleje.
Fishmongers: There are fine fishmongers at the marina in Frederiksværk and at the harbor in Hundested.
Walks: There are countless good walks in the area. The forest and heath east of Liseleje are lovely – even in winter. The forest starts right after the bakery on the way out of town. If you walk through the forest, you come to Zealand's largest (and strictly speaking: only) heath, Melby Overdrev. To the west, you can take a brisk walk to Hyllingebjerg, which is a beautiful viewpoint. To the east, you can walk all the way along the beach to Tisvilde (about 10 km).
Running routes: There are running routes marked in the forest at 1.5 km, 3 km, 5 km, 8 km, and 10 km. The routes start in Asserbo, at Nyvej, the parking lot at Melby Overdrev. It is 2.5 km from the summer house to the starting point.
Cycling route: The North Coast Route goes through Liseleje. Follow the signs for cycle route 47. If you go west, you can reach Hundested. The other way, the cycle route goes through the forest to Tisvildeleje – and further towards Helsingør.
Eco-village: Denmark's oldest eco-village "Dyssekilde" is located in the village of Torup (4-5 km from here). There is a good cafe/restaurant. There is also a shop with good eco-products. Every other Saturday there is a market at the station. There are other activities in Torup – see the calendar at www.torupting.dk
Bus and train: On Lindebjergvej, there are stops for bus route 327. One way, the bus goes to Frederiksværk, where there is a station and shops, etc. From the other side of the road, the bus goes to Melby station. You can take the train to, for example, Dyssekilde or Hundested, where there are also shopping opportunities. Copenhagen can be reached with a change at Favrholm or Hillerød station. Timetables can be checked at www.rejseplanen.dk – where there is also an English version.
Attractions: At www.visitnorthzealand.com there is information about the region's attractions. It is worth visiting Kronborg in Helsingør or Louisiana in Humlebæk. The labyrinth in Gilleleje is a fun place for children.
