Welcome to Sand­bak­ken.

Welcome to Sand­bak­ken, our little gem nestled in the Danish co­un­trysi­de. This small family home is now owned by the third ge­ne­ra­tion and has been lovingly restored from its former state – complete with a well in the courtyard and an outhouse – to what it is today.

We hope you will enjoy your days in the co­un­trysi­de, which is very close by here. Animals and insects largely consider this their home, so they are all around you.

Deer, foxes, badgers and mice are regular visitors around the house. There is a rich birdlife, with many birds nesting in the house itself. Another regular visitor is the giant hornet, which is large but also extremely peaceful unless provoked by being chased.

The unspoilt nature also supports a rich insect life, where the mosquito is likely to be the most per­si­stent visitor. Mosquito repellent and mosquito coils help. Spiders are also very fond of the place. We di­li­gent­ly remove their webs, but they are eager to make new ones.

Nord Forest is quite a large forest and can be difficult to find your way around without a map. There is an app for this; it’s really good and is called “Topo GPS”. The forest is known for the Nordic region’s oldest oak trees, which are still alive and around 2,000 years old. Stor­ke­e­gen and Snogeegen are also worth a visit. Not far from Snogeegen, a pair of sea eagles make their home. It’s a tre­men­dous ex­pe­ri­en­ce to see this great bird in flight – the ‘flying door’, as it’s known.

We hope you’ll feel at home and enjoy the natural sur­ro­un­dings of the house. The plot covers 5,500 m², so the small wood behind the house is perfect for children to run about in, or for gathering branches for a bonfire.
